yesterday i returned back to new york after eight days in my homeland, los angeles. it was late sunday night that i was swooped away on a jam-packed delta plane, complete with eight dollar cocktails and snacks (that you now must pay for), to come back to un-sunshine land of brooklyn. though despite my weary precautions and plentiful woes, i heard the jolly sounds of ice cream trucks and ,to make sure i wasn't hallucinating, i went outside to see small brooklyn children huddled around the good ol' faithful mister softee. this, i will take, can only mean positive signs for the future. on a side note, i am still looking for a job, but me and shelbs are fastening our ideas down for our vintage ebay store and we have firmly secured a name. i introduce you Playhouse Vintage!!
my time in california made me not only revive my love for it's lush greenery and ocean beauty, but, just as vital, i rediscovered my love for garage sales. as i was taking katie, conor, and shelby to our valley adventure(they wanted learn about its ways beyond clueless quotes) we fixed eyes upon a cluster of sales. the first was a surplus of deals where i scored a chanel oversized no. 5 pin, a pierre cardin floral blouse, a great tan leather wallet, a how to raise and train a poodle book circa 1957, a cigar box, and an old checking register--and snatched it all for a grand total of $14. see garage sales are my new thing, and might make moving back to los angeles not that bad...
and continuing the streak of exciting news i want to say congrats to max, gil, elena, and meg for launching APARAT showroom, featuring mexico city darlings Paola Hernandez and duo Roberto Sánchez and Rafa Cuevas behind Teamo. they hosted a small soiree last night for the opening and we all dined on delicious shrimp tacos, discussed the weird ways of the internet, if the phenomenon will matter to us when we are older and observed mister morty the cat slink around his happy quarters; but most importantly the fall collections looked amazing, here is a peak:
teamo did some amazing thing with this coins and the violet linen group has an amazing maxi skirt that is just yearning for some editorial attention!
the beautiful showroom located on 109 Broadway, between Bedford and Berry
i can't wait to get a hold of paola's amazing brogues with those red laces, patent leather and suede how can one go wrong!
ahhhh your scores from the garage sales make ME want to move to california! and also you and shelby should think about opening an etsy store too, it's way less expensive than ebay and in my humble opinion it's much better.
